- Kath Fries is a visual artist based in Sydney, Australia. Contact - kathfries@gmail.com . ~ My art practice explores metaphors of interconnection when an element from the everyday is used as a locus linking broader concepts of time and space. I work across installation, photography, drawing, painting and sculpture. Viewers are encouraged to approach my work from differing angles to discover their own sense of journey within poetic subtleties of ephemerality, trace and residue. I often use shadow and reflection to convey a fleeting temporal sense of tension, of balancing on the edge between the immediate present and the unfurling possibilities of the unseen. ~ Kath Fries completed her Masters of Visual Art in 2008 at SCA, University of Sydney. In 2002 she graduated from CoFA, UNSW with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours. Fries exhibits in Sydney and Melbourne, her work has also featured in large outdoor sculpture festivals such as NSW Hunter Valley’s annual Sculpture in the Vineyards and the 2009 Castaways Sculpture Festival in Perth WA. Fries has been nominated for several emerging artist awards and was recently an artist-in-residency at Laughing Waters VIC.
